Worldwide Homeless Crisis

As I watched the aftermath of the earth quake and tsunami in Japan unfold on the television screen, I was reminded just how unpredictable life can be! In a moment thousands of unsuspecting souls find themselves homeless and without the basic necessities of life. I was amazed at just how quickly life can change!

On a much smaller scale, but just as devastating for each and every individual life, folks have found themselves to be among the “Least of These” as Jesus would say! The poor, lost and lonely in our community find that their lives have become very much like those who have been displaced by catastrophic events of nature, but the catastrophic events of their lives are of a more personal nature.

The compassionate groups of people who come alongside to help with the basics needs of life are not flown in from around the world, but are already here! In every pocket of our community Jesus is there, calling and directing any heart who will hear and respond to His call to serve the lost and needy!

The Prophet Isaiah expressed this calling in Isaiah 58:6-9:

6 "Is this not the fast that I have chosen:

To loose the bonds of wickedness,

To undo the heavy burdens,

To let the oppressed go free,

And that you break every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,

And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;

When you see the naked, that you cover him,

And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,

Your healing shall spring forth speedily,

And your righteousness shall go before you;

The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer;

You shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.'

God will bless those who bless and look after His children! So, may God richly bless you as you continue to do to Jesus by doing to and for “The Least of These!”

Blessings!
