The Academic Center is an integral and supporting element to the New Life & In-Step recovery programs, but due to budget cuts is no longer available to shelter guests.  The Academic Center offers GED Completion coursework and testing, work-based learning, individual and group tutoring, and other special instruction designed to provide learners with the tools necessary for self sustanance, wise choices and healthy and productive relationships.  The Academic Center is run by an all-volunteer staff including the Director, Lynn Swanson, who has been involved with the Mission for quite some time.
